Doris Katheryn Greenwalt, 70, of Dover passed away on Friday, September 21, 2012 at Ahuja Medical Center in Beachwood, Ohio.
Born on April 27, 1942 in Port Washington, she was the daughter of the late John Harold and Betty Jean Watson Lanning. She graduated from Port Washington High School in 1960. On July 30, 1965, she married the love of her life, the late Jerry Dan Greenwalt. She is also preceded in death by her sister; Marian Lucille Lanning; parents-in-law; Edgar Ray (Tony) and Virginia Ward Greenwalt; and sister in-law, Ruth Ann Greenwalt.
Doris worked at Stallard's Grocery Store, Dairy Mart in Dover and New Philadelphia, Boulevard Cleaners and she was an auditor at the Travel Lodge in New Philadelphia for many years.
She was a member of the Tuscarawas County Genealogical Society, an active Girl Scout Leader for many years, and was a very talented artist, who enjoyed working with watercolors, acrylics, and ceramics. She loved gardening, but more than anything she loved spending time with her friends and family. She always looked forward attending her grandchildren's sporting events and activities and baking cookies with her family every Christmas.
She will be sadly missed by her daughters; Stacy E. Greenwalt of Ellwood City, PA, Lori (Ryan) Parsons of Solon, OH; two grandchildren, Gabe and Megan Parsons both of Solon; her sister, Laura "Toots"(James) Cruthirds of McHenry, MS; her niece, Denise "Dee Dee" (Aaron) Waltman of Shepard, TX; cousins, Sharon (Pid) Duhamel and family, and Linda Lanning, all of Newcomerstown, Glenn (Margie) McMullen, Faye (Bob) Welsch, and Martha Jean (Bob) Main, all of Port Washington; Carl Ray (Anna Faye) McMullen of Waverly, TN; and her sister in-law, Nora Sue (Bob) Nepsa of Wingate, NC, nephews Mark Nepsa and family of Monroe, NC and Brian Nepsa and family of Charlotte, NC.
Friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Thursday, September 27, 2012 from 4-7 pm. A celebration of Doris' life will take place at the funeral home on Friday, September 28, 2012 at 11:00 am with Pastor Brian Flood officiating.
