Doris M. Cooley, 92, of Dover died Wednesday, July 22, 2015 in the New Dawn Retirement Center.
Born July 18, 1923 in Dundee, Ohio she was a daughter of the late Dewey and Flossie Medam Burrell. Doris was also preceded in death by her husband Tom Cooley in 1993; son, Tom "Hop" Cooley; sisters, Frances Lukens, Jane Kaltenbaugh and brother, Max Burrell.
She graduated from Dover High School in 1941 and during the war she worked at the Timken Co. in Canton. During her working career, she had also worked at Barr Drug and was a cafeteria worker at East School. Doris and Tom enjoyed working a booth at Shady Rest Flea Market for many years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dover for over 60 years and its Women's Society and Pythian Sisters. She was also a member of the Dover Women's Literary Club and was a Worthy Matron of the Tuscarawas Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star.
Doris is survived by her son, James Cooley and a granddaughter, Ariel Cooley both of New Philadelphia.
Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 1 at 11:00 am in the Dover Burial Park with Rev. David St. Aubin officiating. Following the service, a luncheon will be held in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center.
