Doris R. Darbee

Doris R. Darbee, 95, of Dover and formerly of Florida and Michigan died Thursday, October 30, 2008 in the Country Club Retirement Center.

Born September 29, 1913 in Dover she was a daughter of the late Edward C., Sr. and Emma P. Dilley Krebs. Doris was also preceded in death by her three husbands, Clarence "Pete" Luthy who died in 1978, Archie C. Hostetler who died in 1995 and Howard Darbee who died in 2004; sister, Josephine Blackwood.

Doris was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Dover where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and offered her assistance in the nursery. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and enjoyed bingo, playing cards and traveling.

A loving mother and grandmother Doris will be sadly missed by her three daughters, Lois Walle of Florida, Linda (Bob) Bertle of Dover and Emma Louise (Tim) Keplinger of New Philadelphia; brother, Captain Edward C. (Mary Jo) Krebs, Jr. of Florida; sister, Mary E. "Tootie" Grimm of Kent; nine grandchildren 18 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 3, 2008 at 1:00 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory at Dover with Pastor Jim Lewis officiating. Following the service cremation will take place, with private family interment of the ashes to be in Dover Burial Park. Friends can call in the funeral home one-hour prior to the service on Monday.
