Dorothy C. Cardani

Dorothy C. Cardani, 92, of Dover died Friday, March 11, 2016 at the Inn at Northwood Village.

Born February 13, 1924 in Dover she was a daughter of the late Casper and Josephine Young Contini. Dorothy was also preceded in death by her husband, Dario "Dab" Cardani on March 27, 2011; brothers, Dan and Anthony Contini and sisters, Ann Rimer, Connie Rimer and Mary Ann Schilling.

Dorothy was a 1941 graduate of Dover High School, following her graduation she was employed by the Tuscarawas County Chamber of Commerce, and then she worked for Westinghouse in Canton. While taking the bus from Dover to Canton she met, and fell in love with, her future husband Dab. Dorothy eventually retired from Dr. Padro's office in 1989 as a Receptionist. She was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover where she started the St. Anne's Study Group, she was a member of St. Joe's Senior's, Senior Center, VA Women's Auxiliary and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels with Union Hospital.

Dorothy will be sadly missed by her children; Dan (Nancy) Cardani of VA, Diane (Cornelius) Zandstra of CA; grandchildren, Michael and Jeff Cardani, Chad (Jenae) Zandstra and Corianne Zandstra; brother, Eugene Contini of FL, along with several nieces and nephews which played an active part of her life, Kathy (Jim) Wehrkamp, Terry (Nancy) Wehrkamp, Jeannie (Dr. Mark) Nelson, Sandy Dinallo, Gary Contini; and her godchild, Diane Woosley.

Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 17 at 11:00 am at the Dover funeral home with Fr. Jimmy Hatfield officiating. Interment of the ashes will be in the Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia. Friends can call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
