Dorothy C. Chenevey, 85, of Dover, died Thursday, May 12, 2005 in Union Hospital following a brief illness.
Born November 12, 1919 at Massillon, she was the daughter of the late William and Irene Charleston Ray.
Along with her husband, Dorothy became a familiar face to many in the community as owner/operator of the former Chenevey(TM)s Dairy at Dover from the mid 1960(TM)s into the early 1970(TM)s. She would go on to work in the years following at the former Aberth(TM)s Bakery in New Philadelphia.
Dorothy was a longtime member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover where she had been active in its Senior Citizens group. She was also a member of AARP.
She was a voracious reader who always made time to sit down and open a good book. Her greatest love though was for her family. She was very attentive and never missed birthdays and other special occasions, marking many of those by making sure that she had taken time to send a card or personal note.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Archie G. Chenevey, who died March 14, 1975.
Survivors include: eight children, Jerry (Dawn) Chenevey of Hanover, PA, Cathy (John) Lasher of Copley, Steven (Kathy) Chenevey of Dover, Teri (Dennis) Bertsch of Alexandria, VA, Art (Satomi) Chenevey of Westlake, Bob (Ann) Chenevey of Alexandria, VA, Chris Chenevey and Mary Sue Chenevey both of Dover; ten grandchildren, Carrie, Archie, Jake, Jessie, Matt, Catie, Tanner, Andrew, Samuel and Gracie; four great grandchildren, Annemarie, Roen, Ashley and Alison; and two sisters, Pat (Roy) Miller of Massillon and Mary Ellen Arntz of North Carolina.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Betty.
