Dorothy C. Rastetter, 88, of Mineral City (Atwood Lake), died Monday, May 23,
2005, in her home.
Born Apr. 30, 1917, in Alliance, Dorothy was a daughter of the late Bernard J.
and Charlotte Cholley Cunin. She graduated from Alliance High School and
attended Mount Union College and Kent State University. Dorothy was a loving
wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and a member of Sacred Heart
Church, New Philadelphia, along with its Duplicate Bridge Club. Additionally,
she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority, and was a long-time volunteer
for Tuscarawas County Council for Church and Community.
Survivors include three daughters, Margaret Mary (Ralph) Thompson of Charlotte,
NC, Jean Rastetter (David) Rasch of Portola Valley, CA, and Karen Sue (Michael)
McConnell of Booth Bay ME; two sons, Richard Bergin (Donna) Rastetter of
Massillon, and John Joseph (Vickie) Rastetter of Bellevue, WA; twenty
grandchildren; eight great- grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of forty years,
Col. Richard J. Rastetter, 1n 1981; a daughter, Dorann McGuire; a sister,
Margaret Gilmore; two brothers, John and Robert Cunin.
A funeral Mass will be held Thursday, Jun. 2, at 10 a.m., in the Chapel of the
Most Holy Trinity, West Point, NY. Burial will be alongside her husband,
Richard, in West Point Cemetery. A memorial Mass will be held Saturday, May
28, at 10:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, New Philadelphia, with Msgr. George
