Dorothy E. Dessecker, 101, of 4264 Boy Scout Rd. NE, Dover, Ohio died Wednesday, December 8, 1999 in the Park Village Health Care Center.
She was a retired schoolteacher having taught in Bolivar, New Philadelphia, and Wooster Highway Schools. She was an educator for 31 years.
Born June 27, 1898 in Dover, she was the daughter of the late Sylas and Nellie Putt Weldon.
Dorothy was an active member in the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church at Dover where she was a charter member of the Loyalty Bible Class, member of the Blaire Harter Circle, and received the Founders Day Award in 1990. She was also a member of the Tuscarawas Order of Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband Byron A. Dessecker who died June 2, 1997.
She is survived by her son and daughter in law Jim and Joyce Dessecker of Dover
Three grandchildren Richard Dale (Kay) Dessecker and Deb (Mike) West all of Dover and Tricia (John) Frank of Hartville
Seven great grandchildren Katera, Kristen, and Miranda Dessecker, Abbie and Kelie West Conner and Caleb Frank
One Sister Pauline Lampe of Beach City
One Brother Calvin Weldon of Sedona, Arizona
She was preceded in death by two brothers Earl and Harold Weldon and two sisters, Margaret Allman and Pearl Mathias.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999 at 2:00 PM in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover with Pastor Brian Nunnally officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. Friends may call Saturday from 1-2 PM at the funeral home.
