Dorothy J. Husser, 77, of Dover, died Monday, March 22, 2010 in Union Hospital.
Born June 24, 1932 in Hormtown, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Agnes Neal Zimmerman.
Her husband, Emil Joseph Husser Jr. preceded Dorothy in death in 1974.
Dorothy lived for several years near her husband's family in and near Bethlehem, PA, and for some time in Tampa, FL and Roanoke, VA, but returned to her hometown in 1974 following her husband's death.
She was retired from the former Dover Molded Products after many years of service as a press operator.
Dorothy enjoyed vegetable gardening and canned the fruits of her labors for many years. She was a good cook and often shared her bounty with others.
Surviving family members include: a daughter, Valerie (Robert) Rathbone of Tampa, FL; and a grandson, Max Rathbone, also of Tampa. Also Michelle (McAdams) Baker and her husband Dale, of Dover, Dorothy's niece, who helped look after her as she became ill.
Along with her parents and husband, two infant children, a brother, Donald Zimmerman, and a sister, Melda McAdams, preceded her in death.
A funeral service celebrating Dorothy's life will be held Friday, March 26 at 11:00 a.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover with burial following in Sandyville's Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call in the funeral home on Thursday from 6-8 p.m.
