Douglas Carl Maurer, 42, of Columbus, Ohio and a former Dover resident died Friday, April 7, 2006 in his home following a brief illness.
He was a sales consultant for Sensotec-Honeywell Corporation in Columbus for eighteen years.
Born November 7, 1963 in Dover, he was the son of Irene E. McIntire Maurer of Dover and the late Edward Maurer.
Doug was a 1982 graduate of Dover High School. He also graduated in 1986 from DeVry Institute of Technology. He especially enjoyed spending time with his daughter, Samantha. He was a member of the Northwest Christian Church in Columbus.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his daughter Samantha and his former wife, Patricia Peterson-Maurer.
He is also survived by his brother, David (Lisa) Maurer of New Philadelphia and three sisters, Barbara ( John) Miceli, Patty (Mike) Bott and Kay (Rick) Dessecker all of Dover along with several nieces and nephews and his mother in law, Martha Peterson of Columbus.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Jane Maurer, his paternal grandparents, Carl and Bertha Maurer and his maternal grandparents, Jess and Winifred McIntire.
A funeral service celebrating Doug�(TM)s life will be held Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at 11am in the First Christian Church at New Philadelphia with Pastor Jim Borton officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Burial Park. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Monday (today) from 6-8 pm.Friends may also call at the church Tuesday from 10-11am.
