Douglas E. Froman

Douglas E. Froman, 63, of Strasburg died Saturday, February 6, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center following an extended illness.

He had been employed at JRB in Akron.

Born November 11, 1946 in Dover he was a son of Maurice and Esther "Sis" Longacher Froman of Bolivar.

He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Strasburg and was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Doug was known for his woodworking skills and enjoyed making different items in his shop. He was also an avid collector of Santa Clause figurines. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.

A wonderful and loving son, husband, father and grandfather, Doug will be sadly missed by his wife of almost 40 years, Heather Bair Froman, whom he married on May 16, 1970; sons, Matt (wife, Brenda) Froman, Tyler (fianc, Krissy Bechtold) Froman and Troy (wife, LaVonne) Froman all of Strasburg; brother, Maurice Jr. (wife, Linda) Froman of Bolivar; sister, Lillian (husband, Ed) Galli of Dover; grandchildren, Grace, Carter, Makaylee, Maycee, Kacey, Madisyn and Bryson and his favorite Yorkie, Baylee.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at 11:00 am in the St. John United Church of Christ at Strasburg with Pastor Gary Friend officiating. Interment will be in the Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg. Friends can call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory at Dover on Tuesday from 4-7 pm. Memorial contributions may be made in Doug's name to the Strasburg Savings Bank where a fund has been established.
