Douglas J. Proper

Douglas J. Proper, 69, of Canton passed away at his home on Saturday, September 3, 2022.

He was born on July 21, 1953 in Dover and was a son of Paul Proper and the late Barbara Dupler Proper. Doug was also preceded in death by his son, Michael Proper and two brothers.

Doug proudly served his country during the Vietnam War with the United States Navy. Following his discharge, he became an electrician and retired after many years of service. In his spare time, he enjoyed going to wineries with his family and rooting for the Browns and Ohio State.

Doug is survived by his wife, Rebecca Ballinger Proper whom he married on September 16, 2017; children, Keith (Lori) Proper of Green, Casey (Nathan) Jenkins of North Canton; grandchildren, Gabby, Alex, Addison and Emerson; three sisters; and two brothers.

Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover. Private graveside services will be held in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at Rittman.
