Dr. Clint E. “Butch” Voelm, 70, of Strasburg passed away at New Dawn Health Care Center in Dover following an extended illness.
Born in Dover on November 22, 1950, he was the son of the late John and Rose (Monaco) Voelm.
Butch graduated from Dover High School with the class of 1968. He was an apprentice at Warner Swasey and received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Kent State University. He later received his Master of Arts Degree from Ball State University. He then attended the California School of Professional Psychology where he received his Ph.D. Butch finished his education with the Devereux Foundation where he received his Postdoctoral Fellowship in Clinical Psychology. As a Psychologist, he operated his own private practice.
Butch was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover and was active with the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #57 in Dover.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Richter Voelm, whom he married on December 2, 1978, and their son, Jonathan (Desiree) Voelm of New Philadelphia. He will also be sadly missed by his sister and brother-in-law, Deb and Bob Arnold of New Philadelphia and their children; Roby (Autumn) Arnold of Sardis, OH, Ashley (Sam) Hatcher of Dover; and his great-nieces and nephews, Austynn, Maken, Ella, and Avery.
Butch enjoyed hiking, fishing, and ran in several marathons. He also loved reading and had an extensive book collection. He always looked forward to spending time with his family and especially loved vacations. When his son, Jonathan, was young, he became a Cub Scout leader, coached T-Ball at the YMCA, and continued coaching through Coach Pitch, and Little League. He also volunteered with Strasburg track.
Friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes & Crematory in Dover on Sunday, November 21, 2021, from 1-3 pm. The Mason’s will conduct a service on Sunday at 12:45. A Christian Wake service will take place at 3:00 pm. A Mass will be held Monday, November 22, 2021, at 10:30 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover with Father Jimmy Hatfield officiating.
