Dr. Sherman B. Smith-
Dr. Sherman B. Smith, 74, of South Pasadena, FL went to be with the Lord on October 19, 2009. Born in Chapmonville, West Virginia, Sherman graduated from Chapmonville High School 1953 and later graduated from Kansas City School of Osteopathy and Surgery in 1960. Dr. Sherman B. Smith lived and practiced family medicine in Caldwell, Ohio for 44-years. During this time, he was the elected County Coroner for 30 years, delivered over 2, 000 babies, and served as Chairman of the Board of Caldwell Savings and Loan, Head Physician of the Summit Acres Nursing Home and Director of the Noble County Health Department. He was also member of the Paradise Lutheran Church and a volunteer at the Free Clinic Beacon House St Petersburg, Florida.
Dr. Sherman Smith was preceded in death by his mother Tina Conley, his father Sherman Smith and sister Marlene Murphy. He is survived by his wife Joan J. Breyer Smith, sons; Steven B Smith and Stanton B. Smith, and daughters; Brigitte J. Daly and Melissa Hughes, his son in-laws James M. Daly and D. Scott Hughes along with his five grandchildren: Danielle, Breyer, Evan, Avery, and Claire; mother in law, Dorothy J. McCulley; sister in law, Janet (husband, Robert) Schenk; nieces, Sarah Lynn Rowland, Melanie (husband, Matt) Neidenthal and nephew, Marcus Malcuit. He had two beloved pets Sugar and Spice.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at 11:30 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory at Dover with Pastor Steve Woyen officiating.
