Dwight J. "Jim" Zimmerman, 76, of New Philadelphia died Friday, June 25, 2010 at Aultman Hospital.
He retired from Marlite after 28 years of service.
Born March 19, 1934 in Ragersville, Ohio he was a son of the late Ralph and Alverda Emig Zimmerman. He was also preceded in death by his father and mother in law, Virgil and Mary Smitley Ohler; sister, Dola Shanower and his beloved dogs, Cindy Mae, Jake and Snuggles.
Jim enjoyed playing yass, reading and was also a history buff. He loved going to auctions and collecting antiques. Jim took great interest in the lives of his children and grandchildren, especially attending all the sporting events his grandchildren were in. He was a sports fan who always rooted for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Cleveland Indians and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
A wonderful and loving husband, father and grandfather, Jim will be sadly missed by his wife of almost 56 years, Bernice Ohler Zimmerman, whom he married on July 23, 1954; children, Gary (Ginger) Zimmerman of Barnhill, Susan (Paul) Herman of New Philadelphia, Sally (Jeff) Paisley of New Philadelphia, Brenda (Mark) Brumit of Stone Creek, Doug (Kris) Zimmerman of Uhrichsville and Laura (Rob) Murphy of New Philadelphia; sisters, Arlene (Don) Matchett of New Concord and Gail (Frank) Rossi of Dover; brother in law, Ed Shanower of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, Gary Zimmerman Jr. and his fianc, Kara Sanders, Clifton (Vickie) Zimmerman, Michael (Tarah) Huff Jr., Crystal Huff, Kayce Huff and her fianc , LCPL Trent Weaver, Scott (Kory) Paisley, Michael (Michelle) Paisley, Hannah and Morgan Brumit, Ashley Felgenhauer, Michael Gray and his fianc, Emily Guthrie, Courtney Zimmerman, Courtney Glasgow, Zach, Madison and Gracie Murphy; great grandchildren, Clifton Jr. and Logan Zimmerman, Clayton, Cory, Jordan and Hunter Paisley, Sara Zimmerman and Lee Ann and Wade Burnsworth.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Pastor Max Canfield officiating. Interment will be at the Dover Burial Park. Friends can call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.
