E. Lynne Swingle, ne Frye, aged 64, of New Philadelphia, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2016, in Aultman Hospital, Canton, following a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Caroll and Marilyn McKimmie Frye. She is survived by her only daughter, Lindsay Swingle.
Lynne was born July 2, 1951, in Toronto, Ohio. She graduated in 1969 from Toronto High School, where she was a majorette and drummer in the marching band. She went on to earn her bachelor's degree in education from Muskingum University, where she was a member of the Delta Gamma Pi Sorority.
Immediately out of college, she was hired as an educator for Zanesville City Schools. From the years 1973 to 1997, she taught fourth grade at Pleasant Grove, Garfield, and Wilson Elementary. Lynne loved her students and put her all into teaching, demanding the same level of dedication from her students in return. Once she had a child of her own, she took the same approach to motherhood. Lynne also loved fashion, and many of her students will recall they could tell she was coming by the distinctive click of her high heels down the hard-tiled school hallways.
Services will be private, with burial in Fort Steuben Memorial Estates, Wintersville. Arrangements are in the care of the Toland Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory, New Philadelphia. To sign an online guestbook and share a fond memory of Lynne, please visit the Obituaries link at tolandherzig.com.
The family suggest that contributions in Lynne's memory be made to the American Cancer Society, 525 N. Broad St., Canfield, Ohio 44406.
