Earl C. Balder, Jr., 69, of New Philadelphia died Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at Aultman Hospital following an extended illness.
He retired from the Arizona International Paper Co. in New Philadelphia after 28 years of service.
Born September 19, 1938 in Dover he was a son of the late Earl Sr. and Fern Daniels Balder. Earl was also preceded in death by his wife Jane Balder, who died on March 24, 2003; one grandchild and two great grandchildren.
Earl was a hard worker and in his spare time he enjoyed playing bingo and going out to eat at Dutch Valley with his sister. He was also a devoted father and grandfather who always loved being around his grandchildren, and he adored taking care of his two cats, Precious and Tiny.
Earl is survived by his four sons, Kenneth (Sandy) Balder of New Philadelphia, Rick Balder of Dover, Don (Penny) Balder of Dover and Jim (Mary) Balder of New Philadelphia; sister, Betty Grimm of Ragersville; brother, Dean (Betty) Balder of South Carolina; 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 17, 2008 at 3:00 pm in the Indian Meadows Church of God with Pastor Louise Worsham officiating. Cremation will follow the service with interment of the ashes to be held at a later date in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. Friends can call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory at Dover on Saturday from 5-8 pm.
