Earl E. Furbay

Earl E. Furbay, 76, of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, July 15, 2006 in Union Hospital. He was born June 7, 1930 at Port Washington, he was the son of the late Harry & Helen Wolf Furbay.

By his very nature, Earl was a hard worker. He retired in 1991 after spending most of his working years as owner/operator for Certified Gas Stations. Not content with his idle time in retirement, he started caring for lawns and had a sizeable client base of friends and patrons who trusted him to keep their lawns looking great. He took great pride in his work and cherished the friendships he made along the way.

Along with his flair for keeping lawns manicured, he also had a green thumb and could make just about anything grow.

Earl proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict, and was a member of the Dover post of the American Legion.

His wife, Myrna Davidson Furbay, who died August 31, 1999, preceded him in death.

Survivors include: seven children, Linda (Randy) Brillhart of New Philadelphia, Janet Ickes of Dover, Sharon (Howard) Smith of Strasburg, Joyce Furbay of New Philadelphia, Randy (Cherie) Furbay of New Philadelphia, David (Donna) Furbay of Dover, and Dianna (Rick) Bearducci of New Philadelphia; 16 loving grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Leonard Davidson; and dear friend Donald Sanford.

In addition to his wife and parents, an infant son, Earl E. Furbay, II, preceded Earl in death.

A funeral service celebrating Earl�(TM)s life will be held Friday, July 21, at 2:00 p.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover with Pastor Christopher Moen officiating. After the service, military rites will take place on the grounds at Toland-Herzig. Family and friends will then be received at a luncheon in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center.

Friends may call in the funeral home on Thursday from 5-8 p.m.
