Earl E. Ott, 86, of New Philadelphia died Friday, November 7, 2014 in the New Dawn Retirement at Dover.
Born August 26, 1928 in Newcomerstown he was a son of the late Edwin and Lela McPherson Ott. Earl was also preceded in death by a sister, Martha Slater and granddaughter, Jamie Ott.
Earl retired from Zimmer in 1985 and had also worked at Union Hospital as a Security Guard for six years. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Dover and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. In his spare time he enjoyed golfing, bowling and going to casinos, but his main love was watching and rooting for his beloved Indians.
A wonderful husband, father and grandfather Earl will be sadly missed by his wife of 61 years, Ruth Hanni Ott whom he married on July 19, 1953; children, Allan (Mary Kay) Ott, Greg Ott both of Dover and Roxanne (Patrick) Ervin of New Philadelphia; brothers, John (Gloria) Ott of New Philadelphia, Ray (Nancy) Ott of Massillon and Jim (Susan) Ott of Indiana; sister, Marjorie McCune of Newcomerstown; five grandchildren, Tom and Matt Ott, Julie Watson, Steve and Chris Ervin; 11 great grandchildren.
Private graveside services will be held at the Dover Burial Park with Pastor Thomas Dunkle officiating. There are no calling hours. The Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover is handling arrangements.
