Earl L. Dreher, 87, of Holiday, Florida and formerly of Dover and Strasburg died Thursday, April 3, 2014 in the Suncoast Hospice in Palm Harbor following a brief illness.
Earl retired in 1987 as Superintendent of Dover Tank and Plate in Dover.
Born July 1, 1926 in Strasburg, Ohio, he was the son of the late Lloyd Dreher and Bessie Aubihl Dreher Lawless. In addition, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Bernard Lawless; three daughters, Lori, Debra Diane and Ruth Ann Dreher and his half brother, Barney Lawless.
Earl was a member of the Dover Elks and Moose lodges, the Dover VFW, Dover American Legion Post and the 40 et 8. He was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church at Dover. After graduating from St. Joseph High School, Earl proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy.
He will be sadly missed by his family including his three children, Ann (Harry) Monahan of Dover, Barney (Amy) Dreher of Palm Harbor, Florida and Susan (Brad) Kollar of Holiday, Florida; grandchildren, Kari Staron, Shawn Monahan, Aaron Dreher, Jen Van Meter, and Kelly Smart; great grandchildren, Ian Staron, Shawn Monahan Jr., Stefan Monahan, Samuel Monahan, Austin Dreher, Aidan Dreher, Kaelyn Dreher, Collin Swartzwelder , Haley Swartzwelder, Colton VanMeter, Ellie Smart, Justin Smart and Brady Smart.
There are no calling hours.
A mass will be held Saturday, April 12, 2014 beginning at 12:30pm in the St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Jimmy Hatfield officiating. (Those attending should go directly to the church). Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery at Dover where the Dover VFW will conduct military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
