Earl W. Johnson, 101, of Dover passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 in the Park Village Health Care Center.
He lived a wonderful life and was a kind, and fun loving guy. Earl participated in many activities up until the age of 100! He was a member of the First Moravian Church of Dover where he sang for over 40 years in the choir. He also sang with the Schoenbrunn Barbershop Chorus for many years as well. Earl had many friends and never knew a stranger! He enjoyed exercising with the Silver Sneakers and was a regular bridge player at the senior center. Earl attended Akron University on a basketball scholarship and his claim to fame was playing in a tournament at Madison Square Garden! He worked in retail for over 30 years and after living in 3 states and moving 18 times, retired to Dover in 1976.
Earl was born in Tuscarawas, Ohio on January 14, 1920 to the late G. Fred and Nora Metzger Johnson. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Lois, after 75 1/2 years of marriage in 2017. Together they raised 4 children all who survive, Sharyn (Jim) Dusenberry, Robert, Steve (Cindy), and Darlene (Jerry) Miller; seven grandchildren, Todd, Laura, Sara, Dallas, Brian, Brittany and Emily; 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter. His youngest sister Ila Altier also survives as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
