Edith Brewer Paulus

Edith Brewer Paulus, age 100, passed peacefully on February 10, 2022, in Cleveland, Tennessee. She was born on June 14, 1921, to the late Harvey and Emma Menges Brewer. Edith lived in Dover all of her life until she moved to Tennessee 8 years ago.

Upon high school graduation, Edith went to work for FW Woolworths in Dover and worked there until the store closed. Edith married John Paulus of New Philadelphia while he was on leave from basic training in November 1943.

Edith was born into the membership of Dover First Moravian Church. In her younger years, she was in the choir and taught Sunday school. She also enjoyed belonging to the women’s fellowship group.

Edith’s family was always a priority and she enjoyed her time with them. She had two daughters, Kay Carter (Tom) of Cleveland, Tn., and Phyllis Kivett (Larry) of Novato, Ca., one grandchild Lindsey Toomajian (Chris) of Novato, Ca., and two great grandchildren Oliver (7) and Elliot (3) both of Novato, Ca.

Edith was preceded in death by her husband, John, her parents, two sisters Mary Needs and Verna Marshall and three brothers Homer, Walter and Edger all of Dover.

In keeping with Edith’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, February 15th starting at 11:00 am in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia with Rev. John Wallace officiating. The Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover is handling arrangements.
