Edith E. Welling, 86, a longtime Dover resident, died Wednesday, September 26, 2012 in Community Hospice House.
The daughter of the late John & Elma Still Schuler, She was born October 27, 1925 in Mechanic Twp, Holmes County.
For 56 years she was married to the love of her life, Francis H. Welling, who preceded her in death on May 9, 2002. She enjoyed taking care of the family home over those years, and the couple looked forward to travelling together and especially loved trips out west to California and Arizona.
Edith was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ at Dover, the Dover VFW Ladies Auxiliary, was talented when it came to making crafts and was an avid card player who liked playing with cousins Don & Joyce and her friends at the Senior Center.
Surviving family members include: her daughter, Diane Altier & Rick Pingle of Dover; grandchildren, Trisha & Michael (Brittany) Altier and David and April; great grandson, Abraham; brothers Dean and Wade, both of Coshocton; brothers-in-law, Harvey (Emma) Welling of Canton and Adrian (Marilyn) of Coshocton; sister-in-law, Margaret (Earl) Morris of Coshocton; and many nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husband, Edith was preceded in death by: her daughter Judy; son, David; two sisters, Bernice and Mary; and her brother Harold.
Pastor Joe Schulz will officiate a service that celebrates Edith's life on Saturday, September 29, at 11:00 a.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. Following services at the grave, family and friends are invited to share in a fellowship meal being held in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends may call in the funeral home on Saturday one-hour prior to services.

The family suggests that memorial gifts be made to Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 716 Commercial Ave., SW, New Philadelphia.
