Edith "Edie" Marie Hoagland

Edith "Edie" Marie Hoagland, 64, of New Philadelphia passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family.

Born on July 14, 1951 in Frostburg, MD, she was the daughter of the late Melvin and Betty (Nine) Swauger. She is also preceded in death by her brother in law, William Lieser.

Edie graduated from Dover High School with the class of 1969. On April 18, 1992, she married Daniel Hoagland, who survives.

She has worked at Speedway, Shady Rest, and the Holiday Inn over the years.

Edie loved gambling at the Wheeling Island Casino. She also enjoyed spending time at her camper with her family and friends. She loved traveling with Daniel and especially enjoyed going to Myrtle Beach or anywhere close to the ocean.

In addition Daniel, she will be sadly missed by her two sons; Don (Landa) Kurtz of Carrollton, Chad (Lashan) Kurtz of Dover; step-son, Nick (Mandy) Hoagland of Boardman; step-daughter, Kristen (Justin) Smith of Minerva; grandchildren, Ashlee Kurtz, Seth Dolvin, Kyle Kurtz, Alexis Kurtz, Adam Kurtz, Ali Hadley, Gavin Kurtz, Cierra Kurtz, Kaitlynn Smith; two sisters, Gloria Lieser of Dover, and Brenda Renner (Fianc, Fred Page); brother, Skip Swauger of Dover; her special niece and nephew, Corey and Melina Parker of Dover; along with her mother in-law, Norma Hoagland of East Sparta.

In honoring Edie's wishes, cremation will take place at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 11:00 with Pastor Brian Flood officiating. Following the service, a meal will be served at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center.
