Edith L. "Edie" Reardon

Edith L. "Edie" Reardon, 82, of New Cumberland/Somerdale passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at Beacon Pointe Rehabilitation Center.

Born on August 21, 1931 in Warren, Ohio she was the daughter of the late James and Rachel McCready Smail. On March 19, 1949 she married John "Karl" Reardon Sr, who preceded her in death on March 14, 1998. She is also preceded in death by her son; John Reardon Jr.; two sisters, Evelyn Crowe and Eileen Bailey; two brothers, Eugene "Butch" Smail and Edward "Sonny" Smail; and her step-father, John Langley.

She worked for Timken Company, Miller Studio, and Dover Mold. Edie was a very generous woman who loved taking care of her family, or anyone in need. She was a very talented cook and will be remembered for her coconut cream pies and baked beans. She bowled at Kinser lanes for nearly 40 years and was a member of the Senior Bowling League. She also loved playing softball and played for the Tin Town Tigers for many years. In her down time, she enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, word searches, and embroidering. She was a member of the New Cumberland United Methodist Church.

She will be sadly missed by her children; Bob (Kay) Reardon of Dellroy, Melvin (Pam) Reardon of New Philadelphia, Diana (John) Mathews of Canton; her brother, Earl "Bub" Smail of Jeannette, PA; daughter in-law, Sally Reardon of Massillon ; along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great grandchildren, step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and extended family.

A celebration of Edie's life will be held at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Monday, September 30, 2013 at 11:00 am with Rev. Mark Unrue officiating. Interment will take place at New Cumberland Cemetery. Following the service of committal, a meal will be served at the New Cumberland United Methodist Church. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Sunday, September 29, 2013 from 2-6 pm and one hour prior to the service on Monday.
