Edna M. Doney

Edna Doney, 99, of Strasburg died peacefully in her sleep at the Hennis Care Centre at Dover on Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017.

Born April 10, 1918 in Williamstown, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Esther (Howe) Watson.

She was a 1937 graduate of Dover High School. In 1940, she met and wed her soulmate, Bob Doney. They made their home in Strasburg where she spent most of the rest of her life.
At the age of 59, Edna found herself a widow and was unable to drive. She had her son in law teach her and at the age of 60, she received her first driver’s license. Edna was a member of the Strasburg United Methodist Church where she was active in the Alpha Class.

She is survived by her daughter Barbara (Jim) Scott of Strasburg; grandson, Jimmy Scott; great granddaughter, Jessica (Dakota) Murphy and great great grandson, Brice Murphy along with her special little friends, Zoey and Elijah Young and many nieces and nephew.

In addition to her parents and husband, Edna was preceded in death by a son, John Doney, granddaughter, Jami Scott, and four brothers and a sister.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 30, 2017 beginning at 11am in the Strasburg United Methodist Church in Strasburg with Pastor Jason Humble officiating. Interment will be in the Grandview Union Cemetery with a reception to follow in the church fellowship hall. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10-11am.
