Edna M. Ferris Beatty

Edna M. Ferris Beatty, 87, of New Philadelphia, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 31, 2003.

She was a self-employed housekeeper and had worked for many years serving area families and businesses.

Born March 16, 1916 at New Philadelphia, she was daughter of the late John and Clara Newton Coulter.

Edna was a member of the First Baptist Church in New Philadelphia and its Golden Circle Class. She was also a member of the Rejoice Christian Club and had attended the Word of Faith Church in Dover. She enjoyed bowling, gardening and tending to her flowers and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Charles L. Beatty, whom she wed on June 30, 1951.

Other survivors include: three children; Richard (Beverly) Ferris, Nedra (Bill) Welfley and Charlyn (Kim) Menapace all of New Philadelphia, a sister; Mildred (Merle) Blyer of Louisville, eight grandchildren; William, Jr., James, John and Brian Welfley, Richard Ferris, Jr., Sandra Anderson, Jason and Carrie Menapace, 19 great grandchildren and two step sons; Ronald Beatty and Charles (Julie) Beatty of Powers, Oregon.

In addition to parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, John Ferris.

Due to renovations at Toland-Herzig�(TM)s New Philadelphia location, a service celebrating Edna�(TM)s life will be held Thursday, April 3, at 10:30 a.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home in Dover with Pastor Evelyn Anslow officiating. Interment will be in the East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia. Following services, a reception will be held in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center.

Friends may call in the funeral home on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m.
