Edna M. Weber Ridenour, age 93, of New Philadelphia, and a former resident of Stone Creek, passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2018, in Park Village Southside.
Born July 15, 1925, in Newcomerstown, she was the daughter of the late Dent and Irene Hanenkrat Walters. Edna married Henry J. Weber on March 16, 1946, and the couple reared six children and shared forty-six years of marriage prior to Henry’s passing on July 26, 1992. She married Glen H. Ridenour on August 17, 1996, and the couple enjoyed retirement, Glen’s work with Belgian draft horses and farm life; Glen passed away on March 7, 2013. Edna was blessed with two wonderful husbands.
Edna was employed by Dover’s Valley Farm Supply for many years. She was a loving homemaker who especially liked quilting, sewing, cooking, baking, gardening and canning. She loved animals, and horses in particular.
Over the years Edna belonged to Zion Lutheran Church, Stone Creek, Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Dover, and St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, Fiat. Additionally, she was a member of Jefferson Grange, Stone Creek. Edna and Henry were founding members of the Tuscora 4-H Trail Riders as well as the Ridge Riders.
Survivors include her children, Katherine Lanzer and David (Cindy) Weber, both of Dover, Connie Chaney and Jeff (Teresa) Weber, both of Strasburg, and Linda (Donnell) Sears Lisane of Corpus Christi, Texas; her step-children, Annette Pizzoferrato, Jeff (Connie) and David (Terri) Ridenour, and Kathryn (Chester) Lehman, all of Stone Creek; her eleven grandchildren; her seventeen great-grandchildren; her three great-great-grandchildren; her many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; her brother, Bud Walters of Sandusky; and her best friend, Mary Miller of Sugarcreek.
Besides her parents and her husbands, Henry and Glen, Edna was preceded in death by her son, Roger Weber; her grandson, Michael Lanzer; her sons-in-law, Willard “Russ” Chaney, Raymond “Tiny” Sears and Robert “Bob” Lanzer; and her brothers, Robert and Rollin Walters.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, on Sunday, September 16, 2 - 4 p.m. A funeral service will be held Monday, September 17, at 11 a.m., in the funeral home with Pastor Bill Eckert of Bolivar United Methodist Church officiating. Immediately after the service, there will be a lunch in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard in Dover. Burial will be later, following cremation, in Strasburg’s Grandview Union Cemetery.
