Edward B. "Ed" Gustkey, age 52, of Dover, died Wednesday, Mar. 28, 2012, from complications of Huntington's Disease.
Born May 11, 1959, in Detroit, MI, Ed was the son of Sandra Favot Gustkey of Dover and the late Edward Gustkey. He grew up in Livonia, MI, and graduated from Churchill High School there. Ed had excellent mechanical ability from the time he was a child and studied automobile mechanics on his own. He later became certified in several automotive repair fields. Ed's pride and joy was his 1969 Chevrolet Camaro, with which he was recognized as "Top Gun," having the fastest street racer in Detroit. He moved to the Dover-New Philadelphia area in 2000, when the effects of his disease made living on his own no longer possible.
In addition to his mother, Ed is survived by a brother, Jamie R. (Sharon) Gustkey of New Philadelphia; his little niece, Lydia Gustkey; and other relatives and friends.
Besides his father, Ed was preceded in death by his brother, Jeff Gustkey.
