Edward C. "Edd" Thornsley

March 20, 1973 — August 4, 2017

Edward C. “Edd” Thornsley, 44, of New Philadelphia passed away surrounded by his family on Friday, August 4, 2017 at the Community Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia following a hard fought and courageous battle with cancer.

Edd was born on March 20, 1973 in Urbana, Ohio. He was the son of Lester (Carla) Keaton and Cheryl Thornsley. He was preceded in death by his adoptive grandparents, Charles and Cora Thornsley; and his brother, Butch.

He attended Timken High School. Edd worked as a roofer for Hicks Roofing for many years until he was injured and was unable to work.

Edd will be remembered by his positive outlook on life and contagious laugh. Even in the toughest situations, he would always say, “this is just a bump in the road” and he would continue smiling. He loved laughing and was always the life of the party. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. He loved football and basketball and was an avid Michigan Wolverine and Cincinnati Bengals fan. He was happiest being outdoors feeding the birds, rabbits, and fishing.

He leaves behind three daughters; Taylor Thornsley (fiance, Sean McKean) of New Philadelphia, Kara Thornsley of Dover, and Erin Thornsley of Mineral City; wife, Nicole Sybole-Thornsley of Canton; his former wife, Amanda Burnsworth of Mineral City; bothers and sisters, Chuck, Matt, Bud, William, Dixie, Mickey, Alice, Cora, and Corina; along with his best friends, Corey Murray, Glenn Prestwood, and Fred Smith.

In honoring his wishes, cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover. There will be no services or calling hours. To sign and online guestbook, or to share a memory of Edd, visit the obituary link on the funeral home’s website.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be sent to the Community Hospice Truman House, 716 Commercial Ave SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
