Edward H. Snyder Jr., age 91, of Navarre, passed away Saturday, December 18, 2021, in Hennis Care Centre, Bolivar.
Born March 21, 1930, in Dover, he was the son of the late Edward H. Sr. and Mary H. Murray Snyder. Edward attended Dover High School, and went on to serve honorably with the United States Army during the Korean War. On March 20, 1958, he married Mary E. Scridon, and the couple shared 63 years together prior to Mary’s passing on November 19 of this year. Edward was a long-time employee of the Babcock & Wilcox Company, Canton.
He was a member of the First Church of the Brethren in New Philadelphia. And, as difficult family health situations presented themselves, Edward put his faith into action as a dutiful and loving caregiver - for his father-in-law, his son and his wife; he always went above and beyond for others. He enjoyed following the Cleveland Browns and Indians, and listening to music - especially Neil Diamond, Elton John and jazz.
Edward will be dearly missed by his sons, Mark (Christie) Snyder of Canton, and Michael Snyder of Orrville; his step-son, Bill (Margaret) Sevier of New Philadelphia; his daughter-in-law, Sally Sevier of Canton; his seven grandchildren; his great-grandchildren; his nephew, Gary Ridle; and his long-time friend, Bob Windemuth.
In addition to his parents, and his beloved wife, Mary, Edward was preceded in death by his son, Danny Sevier, and his sister, Pauline Ridle.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, on Wednesday, December 22, 1 - 2 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 2, officiated by Pastor David Hobbs. Burial will be in Dover Burial Park. To sign an online guestbook and share a fond memory of Edward, please visit the Obituaries link on the funeral home’s website.
