Edward J. “Tuffy” Smail, 68, of Dover, died Monday, March 10, 2002 in his home.
He retired in 1982 after working for many years as a truck driver.
Born April 23, 1934 at Warren, Ohio, he was son of the late James and Rachel McCrady Smail.
Tuffy was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed fishing. He was a rough and rugged professional boxer who fought for seven years and was only knocked down once.
On June 25, 1972 he wed the former Margaret McNally who survives.
Other survivors include: seven children; Edward Smail of Canton, Teresa Adair of Dover, Scott Smail of Dover, Debra Beddows, Joseph Rine and Rhonda Sandoval all of Riverside, CA and Carey Rine of Michigan, two sisters; Ethel Kutcher of Uhrichsville and Edith Reardon of Dellroy, two brothers; Earl Smail of Pennsylvania and Gene Smail of New Philadelphia and 15 grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 14, at 2:00pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover. Cremation will follow services. Friends may call in the funeral home on Thursday from 5-8pm.
