Edward L. Lanning, 82, of 1220 Dover Ave., Dover, died Tuesday, November 27, 2001 in Aultman Hospital after a lengthy illness.
He had worked for many years at the Danner Press company in Canton.
Born February 7, 1919 at Lorain, Ohio, he was son of the late Robert & Lora Dugan Lanning.
He leaves his wife, Nora (Maiken) Lanning and daughter Sandra McGinnis of Lorain. Also surviving are: two step daughters; Carol Kasserman of Navarre, and Laura Colvin of Dover, daughter-in-law; Linda Bodine of Florida, five grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
Edward was a Marine in World War II having served in the Pacific. He was a sergeant in the Marine Corp Reserves for 20 years in Lorain. He belonged to the Army-Navy club, Moose lodge and VFW. He also served as treasurer for the New Philadelphia American Legion.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation will take place and a memorial service will be held Friday, November 30 at 1:30pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover with Rev. Allen Bergmann officiating.
