Edward Nelson Browning, 79, of Columbus, died Wednesday, May 7, 2008.
Born May 18, 1928, in Guernsey County, he was a son of the late Norman and Margaret Richards Browning. Edward was a Navy veteran of the Second World War, serving on the submarine U.S.S. Bergall. Following his service time, he worked for the Nickel Plate Railroad as a fireman on steam locomotives. Edward earned his Bachelor's Degrees from The Ohio State University, and was later employed as a tool and die maker by General Motors in Columbus, from which he retired.
He is survived by his four children, Ann Browning Shaw, Eric (Christy)
Browning, David (Crystal McVeigh) Browning and Jon (Pam) Browning; nine
grandchildren, George (Megan) Shaw, Lisa Shaw, Andy (Kari) Browning, Becky Browning, Meredith (Andy) Diamond, Alex Browning, Joshua (Amber) Browning, David Browning and Spencer Browning; great-grandson, Skyler Browning; brothers, John (Norma) Browning and Carl (Gail) Browning; sister, Karen (Joe) Pace; and sister-in-law, Peggy (Norman) Browning.
In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by his wife of
fifty-six years, Betty Lou Henney Browning, earlier this year; and by
brothers, Norman and Gene Browning.
Edward's family would like to thank Oak Pointe Rehabilitation Center in Baltic and Hospice of Tuscarawas County for the care and kindness they provided to him.
Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, 803 N.
Wooster Ave., Dover, on Saturday, May 10, 6-8 p.m., and on Sunday, May 11, 1-2 p.m. A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home. Immediately following the service, there will be a reception in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard in Dover. Interment will be Monday, May 12, at 10:30 a.m., in Evergreen Burial Park, New Philadelphia; family and friends are welcome to attend.
