Edward H. "Bud" Wills, a beloved member of the community, passed away on November 4, 2023, at Park Village South in New Philadelphia.

He was born on April 17, 1929, to George W. and Edna E. (Horn) Wills. Bud's dedication and numerous accomplishments throughout his life made him a highly respected individual amongst his peers.

After graduating from Dover High School in 1947, Bud went on to serve his country with honor and distinction. Shortly after completing his education, Bud enlisted in the United States Navy. During his time in the Navy, he exhibited a remarkable aptitude for engineering and machining and thus found himself working as a machinist. It was during this period that Bud honed his skills as a sound sales engineer—an ability that would shape his future career.

Bud's military service continued for four years during the Korean War, where he showcased not only his technical prowess but also an unwavering commitment to the armed forces.

On November 22, 1951, he married Rosemary (Woods) Wills.  Rosemary preceded him in death on May 21, 2019, after 67 years of marriage.  He was also preceded in death by his son, George Gilbert Wills, and his sister, Carolyn Arnold.

Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, Bud embarked on a successful career as an Electronic Sales Engineer and technician. He also utilized his exceptional machining abilities as the owner of the former South Eastern Electronics in Dover.

Not content with only excelling in his professional life, Bud was a passionate individual who wholeheartedly embraced various interests. In addition to being handy around the house—a skill that led him to build their family home. He also made himself available, and his extensive collection of tools to support family and friends.  Bud cherished time spent traveling after retiring from his career.

Bud possessed numerous achievements of which he was immensely proud. He served as the videographer for both the Central Catholic and Dover St. Joseph football teams—an opportunity that allowed him to combine two of his passions: sports and videography.

Additionally, Bud was a dedicated member of the community, always striving to make a positive impact. He joined the Dover Lions Club in 1956 and eventually rose to the position of District Governor. This leadership role within the organization is a testament to his commitment and dedication towards service.

Bud's selfless nature shone through in his involvement with various civic organizations. He actively participated in the Boy Scouts of America, Dover VFW, Dover American Legion, and the Ham Radio Club. Through these memberships, he found camaraderie and shared experiences that enriched his life while simultaneously supporting the betterment of society.

Bud leaves behind his children; Edward W. (Marilyn) Wills of Strasburg, Mary Ellen (Steven) Sherer of New Philadelphia, and Kathy (John) Novak of Akron; his six grandchildren, Anna (Andrew) Quigg, Jasin Wills, Steven (Linda) Sherer, Alison (Josh) Marshall, Andrew (Brittany)  Novak and Adam (Megan) Novak; nine great-grandchildren; his sister, Joann Hawley; along with many nieces and nephews.
