Edwin B. "Ed" Meanor, age 73, of Dover, and formerly of Cambridge, died Wednesday, August 13, 2014, in Union Hospital, Dover, following a long illness.
Born September 27, 1940, in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late Boyd and Annabelle (Murphy) Meanor. Ed graduated from Coraopolis High School and went to work for RCA before entering the service of his country in the United States Army. Upon his discharge, he attended DeVry University and was employed by NCR, Cambridge for twenty-one years. He later retired from the Cambridge Senior Citizens Center. A hardworker, Ed also farmed and kept a large garden.
Ed was a member of the First Christian Church at Dover and was a long-time Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on automobiles, camping and following the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Survivors include his wife, Judy (Butcher) Meanor, whom he married on June 23, 1984 in Norwich; his five children, Dwayne (Beth Ann) Meanor of Pasadena, Maryland, Jessica (Michael) Knight of Dover, Cheryl (Bill) Parsons of Greensburg, Indiana, James (Jennie) Chrisley of Byesville, and Jodi (Rick) Starcher of New Concord; his fourteen grandchildren; his ten great-grandchildren; his brother, Richard (Rini) Meanor of St. Louis, Missouri; and his nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 16, at 1 p.m. in the First Christian Church, Dover, with Christopher Mulpas officiating. Following the ceremony, there will be a luncheon in the church's social hall.
