E.L. "Ed" Littleton

E.L. (Ed) Littleton, 82, of Dover died early Tuesday morning, August 16th 2011, with his family at his side after a short battle with Lymphoma. Ed was born May 19th, 1929 to Theodore Mason and Bessie Pearl (Ault) Littleton, both of whom preceded him in death.

Ed was a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many. He drove school bus for New Philadelphia City Schools for more than twenty years, and also drove school bus for the Tuscarawas Central Catholic High School Football Team. Through his plumbing and heating business he met countless individuals, knowing many from the Dover-New Philadelphia community.

Ed was very passionate about Dover High School, particularly its football team and marching band. He was also very proud of his family both those who are his survivors and his family tree, the latter of which he has done extensive research.

Ed is survived by his wife of sixty three years Betty Littleton and his four children Dixie Hilton, Joyce Littleton, Gary (Judy) Littleton, and Amy (Michael) Strode, his sixteen grandchildren Todd (Debbie) Hilton, Tim Hilton, Tom Hilton, Trevor (Shanna) Littleton, Mallory Littleton, Benjamin Strode, Elizabeth (Marcus) Pieper, Rachel Strode, Lydia (Caleb) Pieper, Noah Strode (and his fiancé, Kara Graham), Abigail Strode, Hannah Strode, Susanna Strode, Julia Strode, Ethan Strode, and Elijah Strode, four great-grandchildren Sydney Hilton, Braylon McFarland, Brielle Littleton and Koen Littleton, who is due in September of 2011, one brother Marion “Pete” Littleton, a former sister in law Doris Littleton and a sister in law Elena Littleton.

In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by a son in law, Rex Hilton, three brothers Melvin (Louise) Littleton, Vernon Littleton, infant brother Albert Littleton, and two sisters Hilda (Weekly) Clemens, and infant sister Edna Weekly.
