Eleanor M. Newton, 84, of Strasburg, Ohio died Friday, December 24, 2004 in Aultman Hospital at Canton following a brief illness.
She owned and operated the former Town House Restaurant in Strasburg for over 50 years. She also assisted her husband, C.L. Newton, founder of Newton Asphalt & Paving Company in Strasburg. He died February 16, 1980.
Born September 9, 1920 in Canton, she was the daughter of the late Norbert F. and Sarah E. Price Muehlheim.
She was a member of the Strasburg United Methodist Church. She especially loved bringing her family together on Sunday evenings and spending time with her grandchildren. She was an avid Cleveland Indians fan.
In addition to her husband, C.L., she was preceded in death by two sons, Tom and David Lee Newton, her daughter in law, Carol Gessner, two brothers, Leonard “Shorty” and Herman Muehlheim, and a sister, Delores Sweaney.
Eleanor is survived by two daughters and two sons
Jo Newton, Gay Newton and George Gessner all of Strasburg and Vic (Winnie) Gessner of Dundee; her daughter in law, Sue Newton of Strasburg; Seven grandchildren Jeff (Cindy) Gessner, Greg Gessner, John (Kim) Gessner, Tommy Newton, Rachael (Mark) Molk, Molly (Matt) Wagner, and Emily Newton; four great grandchildren Carson, Caitlin and Ashleigh Gessner and T.C. Molk along with another expected great grandchild soon. Three sisters, Lois and Dolly Muehlheim both of Canton, Betty (Walt) Rueckert of Massillon and one brother, John Muehlheim of Canton and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services celebrating Eleanor�(TM)s life will be held Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at 2pm in the Strasburg United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Court officiating. Interment will be in the Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg. Friends may call at the Strasburg United Methodist Church on Tuesday from 4-7 pm.
