Elizabeth Alice Shonk

Elizabeth Alice Shonk, 93, a longtime resident of Zoarville and New Philadelphia, died Wednesday, July 24, 2002 in the South Broadway Nursing Home in New Philadelphia.

Born April 6, 1909 at Mineral City, she was daughter of the late Thomas & Louisa Hahn Blunt.

Elizabeth was an avid Bingo player, enjoyed solving word-search puzzles, loved listening to country music and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Shonk, who passed away April 3, 1977.

Survivors include: two daughters; Mrs. Evelyn Nill of New Phila., and her companion Warren Fox of Tuscarawas, daughter-in-law; Mrs. Ida Shonk of Texas, three sons; Kenneth & Jane Shonk of Strasburg, Robert & Helen Shonk of Dover, and Dwaine Shonk of Uhrichsville, sister; Mrs. Frances Reidenbach of Baltic, 18 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 15 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Elizabeth was preceded in death by: a son, three brothers, four sisters, one grandchild, and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30pm in Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover. Interment will be in the New Cumberland Cemetery. Friends may call in the funeral home on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9pm.
