Elizabeth Anne Mckinley

Elizabeth Anne “Betty” McKinley, 81, of Dover, and a former longtime resident of Marion, died Tuesday, October 18, 2005 in Union Hospital following a brief illness.

Born in Wheeling, WV on April 27, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Ida Mae Stephens Baker.

She was a longtime teacher and guidance counselor in the Marion school district.

Betty was very busy in the Marion community while serving on city council and as a member of the Marion Republican Women. She was also an active member of Marion�(TM)s Epworth United Methodist Church. Upon her retirement, Betty became involved with Marion General Hospital as a volunteer.

In later years, she attended the First United Methodist Church at Dover.

She took great pride in her family and will be fondly remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and sister. Her talent for baking everyone�(TM)s favorite cookies made family holidays extra special. She will also be remembered for her generosity and unconditional love.

She is survived by: three children, Kevin (Margie Thompson) Ionno of Savannah, GA, Chris Ionno of Hickory, NC, and Michael (Debra Atkins) Ionno of Garrett Park, MD; seven grandchildren, Sherri (Micah) Ionno-De la Cruz, Aimee (William) Schmidt, Zachariah (Anisa Muhammad Ali) Ionno, Tony Ionno, Elizabeth (Sean) Chevalier, Joshua Ionno, and Peter Ionno; ten great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; a brother, Charles (Irma) Baker of Beach City; a sister, Mary (Ray) Bender of Strasburg; and a special friend, Bob Willis, whom she became acquainted with while residing at Park Village.

A service celebrating Betty�(TM)s life will be held Friday, October 21, at 10:30 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church at Dover with Pastor Dairel Kaiser officiating. Interment will be in Strasburg�(TM)s Grandview Union Cemetery.

Friends may call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover on Thursday from 6-8 p.m.
