Elizabeth "Betty" Jennings, age 93, of Dover, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2015, in West View Manor, Wooster.
Born June 2, 1922, in Wheat, Wetzel County, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Ellsworth G. and Laura (Lemley) Jackson. Elizabeth attended school in Wetzel County, and married Carl M. Jennings. They moved to Ohio where Carl was employed. The couple shared forty-two years of marriage and reared three children prior to Carl's passing in 1981.
Elizabeth was a loving homemaker and a founding member of the Dover Church of Christ. She enjoyed walking, reading especially The Bible, cooking, baking and visiting those in nursing homes. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren also have fond memories of Elizabeth taking them to Tuscora Park when they were young.
Survivors include her five grandchildren, Ronnie (Lori) Coblentz of Applecreek, Michelle "Shelley" (Mark) Weaver and Teresa (Terry) McGeorge both of Fredericksburg, Angela (Ray) Troyer also of Applecreek, and Brenda (Frank) Proch of Fort Wayne, Indiana; her eighteen great-grandchildren, Jesse, Joe, Zachary, Maggie and Jacob Coblentz, Cody, Tyler, Shayne and Alexis Weaver, Joshua Curren and Kristin (Shane Foster) Curren, Ciarra McGeorge, Lance, Lyndsey and Brooklyn Troyer, Brooke, Eric and Jessie Proch; her two great-great-grandchildren, Khyl Curren and Acacia Foster; and her sister, Maxine Yost of West Virginia.
In addition to her husband, Carl, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her three children, Donna Coblentz, Bill and Carl Melvin Jennings; her grandson, Mark Allen Coblentz; and her son-in-law, Joseph Coblentz.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 8, at 11 a.m., in the Dover Church of Christ, 230 E. Fourth St., with Minister Randy Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Dover Burial Park. Following the committal, there will be a luncheon in the church hall. Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, 803 N.
