Elizabeth Carlisle, 87, of New Philadelphia died Friday, February 25, 2005 at Morning View Care Center following a courageous battle with cancer.
She retired from General Motors Cadillac Division in Michigan after 15 years of service.
Born August 14, 1917 in New Philadelphia she was a daughter of the late Walter and Anna Ricklic Riker.
Church was a very important part of Elizabeth�(TM)s life and she was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints in New Philadelphia. Elizabeth loved to sew, she was always mending clothes for the residents at Morning View Care Center and at South Broadway Nursing Home. She also enjoyed cooking and exercising at the YMCA with the Twinges and Hinges group. She was also a graduate of Midvale High School.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband, Robert D. Carlisle with whom she would have celebrated 26 years of marriage on April 3, 2005.
She is also survived by a son, James (C.J.) Hootman of New Philadelphia; brother, Clyde (Nonnie) Riker of Redford, Michigan; two sisters, Irene Arnold of Dover and Hazel Kluba of Colorado; three granddaughters, Debbie, Linda and Betty Ann; three grandsons, Jimmy, Johnny and Chuck; many great and great-great grandchildren; three stepchildren, Robert (Sue) Carlisle III of New Philadelphia, Mary Perry of Ravenna and Daniel Varalli of Missouri.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Peggy J. Flood; three brothers, Daniel, Eugene and Ernest Riker.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at 1:00 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at New Philadelphia with Rev. Glenn Carlisle officiating. Following the service a reception will be held at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends can call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 am to the time of the service at 1:00 pm. At Elizabeth�(TM)s request cremation will follow the service.
