Elizabeth R. Yackey, 60, of Strasburg, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, in her residence following a sudden illness.
Born May 26, 1950, in Dover, she was a daughter of the late Clyde and C. Mae Ralph Yackey. Elizabeth graduated from Strasburg High School in 1968, and was employed by Joy Manufacturing and its successor, Howden Buffalo. She was a lifelong member of the Strasburg United Methodist Church and sang in the church choir. Elizabeth loved bowling and participated in several leagues over the years.
Survivors include three sisters, Edna (Gary) Smith of Strasburg, Edyth McCaslin of Dover, and Dalene (Robert) Domer of Hilliard; a brother, Clyde (Theda) Yackey of Strasburg; many loving nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews, who referred to her as "Grandma Beth."
In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by a niece, Jana McCaslin.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, Jan. 8, at 1:30 p.m., in the Strasburg United Methodist Church, with Rev. Lynda K. Masters officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Union Cemetery, Strasburg.
