Ellen B. Lawver

Ellen B. Lawver, 84, of Dover passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at the Community Hospice House following an extended illness.

Born on October 21, 1928 in Winfield, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Amanda (Powell) Allison. Ellen was a 1946 graduate of Dover High School. On October 24, 1947, she married Floyd Lawver. The couple was married for 42 years, when Floyd preceded her in death on July 1, 1989. She is also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Rebecca Lawver.

Ellen was a cook at various different restaurants throughout the community. She was a talented housewife, and loved cooking and caring for her family. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, and reading. She was a member of the Winfield United Methodist Church.

She will be sadly missed by her children; Michael (Mary Lou) Lawver of New Philadelphia, Barbara (Dale) Maurer of Salem, David (Debbie) Lawver of Uhrichsville; brother, Duane (Carol) Allison of New Philadelphia; sister, Karen (Robert) Vandall of New Philadelphia; along with 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Ellen's life will be held at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at 7:00 pm with Pastor Brian Flood officiating. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6:00-7:00 pm. Inurnment will take place at Dover Burial Park at a later date.
