Ellen J. DeTorio, 84, known by her family as "Aunt Pete" or "Granny", died Wednesday, August 19, 2015 in the Park Village Health Care Center.
Born July 7, 1931 in New Philadelphia she was a daughter of the late Charles and Minnie Schneider Myers. Ellen was also preceded in death by her husband, John J. DeTorio on February 11, 1989; brothers, Bud and Lewis Myers; sister, Mary Hurt and nephew, Dick Myers.
She retired as the Head Teller for Huntington Bank after 25 years of service. Following her retirement, she was the Secretary of the Reeves Foundation. Ellen was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and enjoyed reading, making popcorn, puzzles, playing cards where she was active with her card club.
She is survived by her children, Steve (Josephine) DeTorio of Dover and Barbara Rogers of Tipp City, Ohio; sisters, Anna Peveto of Dover, Noma Shafer of South Carolina; grandchildren, Jessica (Chuck) Seaman, Ty (Joy) Rogers, and Felisha (Barry) Varns; great grandchildren Julia and Charlie Seaman, June and Greer Rogers and Vigo and Enzo Varns; sister in law, Florence McCleary of Dover.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, August 22 at 10:30 am in the St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Jimmy Hatfield officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery at Dover. Following the burial, a funeral luncheon will be held in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends can call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:15 am.
