Ellen L. Hollinger, 84, a lifelong resident of Dover died Friday, March 2, 2012 at Aultman Hospital in Canton following a brief illness.
Ellen retired in 1987 from GTE after 40 years of service. She began her career with GTE at the New Philadelphia Central Office and held various management positions at the Marion, Athens, and Norwalk offices.
Born Dec. 30, 1927 in Dover, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Martha (Richard) Hollinger.
Ellen was a 1945 graduate of Dover High School. She was actively involved in the Little Theatre of Tuscarawas County where she was the former Treasurer. She was also a member of the Junior Clionian Club, Charter member of the Eastern Division Credit Union and was a longtime volunteer of the Dover Historical Society.
She will be sadly missed by her brother Richard "Dick" (Shirley) Hollinger of Dover and her nephew, Paul (Cheryl) Hollinger of Powell, Ohio along with her close cousin Jim (Cris) Nixon of Dover and many other cousins and close friends.
A memorial reception in her honor will be held on Monday, March 12, 2012 from 2pm to 5pm in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center, 831 Boulevard in Dover. At her request, cremation will take place. She will be privately laid to rest in the Maple Grove Cemetery at Dover.
