Elveda "Squitz" Fritz

Elveda "Squitz" Fritz, 79, of E. Front St., Dover died Tuesday, March 26, 2013 in the Hennis Care Centre at Dover following an extended illness.

"Squitz" enjoyed interacting with children as a crossing guard for the Dover Schools. She had also previously worked for the Buehler's Floral Shop at the original store in Dover.

Born July 18, 1933 in Dover, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Emma (Stakem) Fazenbaker.

She was a 1951 graduate of Dover High School. She was formerly active in the Dover Band Boosters. She also enjoyed singing and was previously a member of the Sweet Adelines and City of Flags.

"Squitz" was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Edward H. Fritz who died March 23, 2009. She was also preceded by two brothers and a sister and a son in law, Don Whitemyer.

She will be sadly missed by her family including three children Joan Whitemyer of Zoar, Bill (Paula) Fritz and Michael (Brenda) Fritz both of Dover; nine grandchildren Miranda Kaser, Josh Kaser, Tim Whitemyer, Bill Fritz, Jessica Fritz, Jennifer Heckathorn, Jena Encizo, Julie Clarke and Jamie Hillyer; eleven great grandchildren and two sisters, Emma "Boots" Alexander and Peg Hager along with many nieces and nephews.

At her request, cremation will take place. A public memorial service celebrating her life will be held Sunday, April 21, 2013 beginning at 4pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover with Pastor Larry Fletcher officiating. A reception will follow in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 3pm-4pm.
