Elvin R. “Lucky” Robinson, 74, of New Philadelphia, Ohio died peacefully in his home at 5:20 pm Tuesday, June 6, 2000, after a 3 month battle with lung cancer.
Born February 17, 1926 in New Philadelphia, Ohio, he was the son of the late Herb and Odessa Emery Robinson.
He enjoyed woodworking, carving, auto racing, and was an avid Cleveland Indians fan. He was a US Navy veteran having served during World War II.
Elvin owned and operated Robinson’s Gulf Service Stations in Banning and Beaumont, California where he and his family resided for 13 years. He was also formerly employed at Marlite in Dover and Leishman Coal Company in Dennison. He retired in 1991 from the Ohio Dept. of Transportation (ODOT).
He is survived by his wife Dolores A. Beavers Robinson who
he married Dec. 24, 1954 at the Nazarene Parsonage by the Rev. J.D. Poole. They would have celebrated 46 years of marriage this year.
He is also survived by his daughter Joyce A. Stahl and her fiancée Murphy Wilson of New Philadelphia. One grandson, Huston J. Stahl, One brother, Herb (Kathryn) Beavers Robinson of New Philadelphia; One Sister Nancy (Bill) Davidson of Uhrichsville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Tom Robinson and a sister, Jeanette Jenkins Lowmiller.
At his request, there will be no services. Cremation will take place with interment at a later date in the East Avenue Cemetery in New Philadelphia.
