Emma L. Simmers, 71, of Dover died Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Aultman Hospital.
She graduated from the Massillon School of Nursing in 1963 and later received her Masters of Nursing. Emma began her career as a surgical RN, and then became an Emergency Center Nurse before becoming an Occupational Health Nurse with the Timken Co. in Canton from where she retired with 27 years of service.
Born March 27, 1941 in New Philadelphia she was a daughter of Katherine Reardon Simmers of Dover. Emma was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Lou Douglass; brother, Donald L. Simmers, niece, Lonnie Douglass and brother in law, Charles McEaneney.
In addition to her mother, Emma will be sadly missed by her sisters, Katherine Ann McEaneney of Dover, Grace (Chuck) Long of Strasburg; brother, Ronald (Cenie) Simmers of Canton; two nephews, six nieces and many great nieces and nephews.
Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover. There will be no services or calling hours. Those wishing to express their fondest memories of Emma may do so by visiting the on line obituaries and flowers link on the funeral homes website.
