Emma Lou Barcus

Emma Lou Barcus, 85, of the Park Village Assisted Living and formerly of Brookside Drive, Dover and Mingo Junction died Saturday, July 15, 2006 in her home following complications from a stroke.

Born November 3, 1920 in New Castle, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late John S. and Hester Wyrie Day.

She was a former Nurses Aid at Ohio Valley Hospital in Steubenville for many years.

Emma attended the Winfield United Methodist Church and was a member of the Harmony Methodist Church in Mingo Junction. She was also a former member of the Mingo Women�s Club, and enjoyed embroidering and reading.

She is survived by her husband, Edgar Barcus with whom she celebrated 65 years of marriage on April 1. She is also survived by two daughters, Barbara (Glenn) Knepper of Washington and Virginia �Jenny� Barcus of Dover; a sister, Cora Jean Perschke of New Castle, Pa.; three grandchildren, Grant and Scott Knepper and Jennifer Ambs along with three great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son Rev. James Barcus and a brother, Robert Day.

A funeral service celebrating Emma�s life will be held Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at 1:30pm in the Winfield United Methodist Church with Pastor Lu Ann Youngman and Pastor Jerry Huntsman officiating. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. Cremation will take place following the service and she will be interred in the Dover Burial Park.
