Emmet E. Beitzel, 80, of New Philadelphia passed away at the home of his daughter on Friday, July 5, 2024.

Born on April 25, 1944 he was a son of the late Virgil and Dorothy Goshorn Beitzel. Emmet was also preceded in death by his brohter, Roy Beitzel.

Emmet was a dedicated business owner, having proudly led Beitzel Electric in New Philadelphia for 25 years. Following this successful endeavor, he continued to share his expertise by working for Schilling Electric in Sugarcreek until his well-deserved retirement. Known for his commitment to quality work, Emmet's legacy in the electrical industry will be remembered by many.

Emmet was a man of many passions and interests. As a respected member of the New Philadelphia Elks, he served with honor as the Exalted Ruler. His love for history shone through his involvement with the Pennsylvania 8th Regiment Reenactment Team from 1975 to 1982, reflecting his deep appreciation for the Revolutionary War era. Emmet found joy in exploring the world alongside his beloved grandchildren. Whether embarking on adventures or simply spending time together at home, these moments were cherished by all. He also had a talent for cooking, which he eagerly shared with his family – particularly relishing the opportunity to pass on his skills to his granddaughter. Amongst the highlights of Emmet's year were the gatherings he hosted at his home during Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve. These festive occasions brought together family and friends in celebration and warmth, creating lasting memories that will endure through generations.

Emmet is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Roseanne Miller Beitzel, whom he married on May 23, 1965. He will be deeply missed by his daughters Marty Kaye (Q) Gossett of New Philadelphia and Teresa Ann Beitzel of New Lexington. Emmet is also survived by his sisters, Shirley Ann (Don) Burnem of Rush Township, and Kathy Ann (Joe Miller) McGee of Strasburg. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren, Bruce Brown, Riley Chance, Trinity Contini, and Emma Chance.

Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover. A service celebrating Emmet's life will be held on Tuesday, July 9th starting at 1:30 pm in the Dover funeral home with Pastor David Wing officiating. The family will be greeting friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12:30 to 1:30 pm.

The family would like to thank the Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital’s In Home Nurses and Ohio’s Hospice Nurses and Aids, especially his great niece, Shirley Ann Gipson for their outstanding care.
